Growing up in a rural location gave me an appreciation, an understanding and a respect for wildlife and nature. As a child I took it for granted because it was all I knew. As I’ve got older I’ve had to add concern and determination to the way I view the natural world due to the fragility of it, and recording it through photography and being an active conservationist helps to counter some of the damage being done by some. It’s also a way for me to keep learning, identifying bugs for example or photographing different behaviours of birds. This is why wildlife as a subject is my number one passion when it comes to photography.

Costa Rica is the first tropical country to have stopped and reversed deforestation; it has successfully restored its forestry and is the only country in the world to have more forest now than it did 40 years ago.
When we decided to go on holiday to Costa Rica, there was no way I was leaving my camera at home!
